More than 40.000 customers world-wide including nearly all ’top 100’ global companies within food and agriculture as well as mid-size and smaller businesses. For instance, a leading food company uses FOSS NIR analysers for consistent analysis of chemical constituents across 27 manufacturing sites, ensuring that their brand name products taste the same world-wide.
FOSS people
FOSS was founded in 1956 as N. Foss Electric A/S by Nils Foss. His son, Peter Foss, is Chairman of the board today.
FOSS employs around 1150 staff worldwide, all of whom are highly qualified for their job such as the many factory-trained and certified support engineers stationed close to our customers across the globe. Many employees have a top-level scientific or technical background for example, nine members of the chemometrics department alone, hold a PhD.
Financial strength
FOSS is a privately-owned company with a solvency ratio of 75% FOSS has been awarded the AAA diploma rating for the highest credit rating in D&B's rating scale.

Industries
The first instruments were developed to test moisture in grain. These were followed by analytical solutions for the central milk testing and dairy industry – a major business area for FOSS alongside a range of other industries, including meat, feed and forage, wine, chemical analysis and others. Today, 85% of the world’s milk production, 80% of grain traded on the world market and 75% of the world’s beer production is tested using FOSS analytical solutions.

Applications
Too numerous to list here, for example, the MilkoScan FT+ milk analyser alone can simultaneously measure fat, protein, lactose, solids, urea, freezing point depression, free fatty acids, casein, fatty acids profile, ketosis and others such as PH and H-index in cow, sheep, goat and buffalo milk. And it can measure up to 600 samples per hour.
