For fast and safe analysis of extractable matter (mostly fat) FOSS offers a range of solvent extraction systems developed to meet recognised standard methods. The range includes the Soxtec™ 2050 automated analyser, the Soxtec™ 2055 semiautomated analyser plus the economical 6-place Soxtec™ 2043and 2-place Soxtec™ 2045 all built according to strict EC standards for maximum safety.
For Total Fat analysis a preparatory step of acid hydrolysis is required. This step is performed in the new SoxCap™ 2047.
The application range covers determination of fat in food and feed as well as soluble material in soil (eg. PCB, PAH), polymers, paper pulp, textiles etc. Typically five times faster than the classic Soxhlet equipment, Soxtec is the fastest Soxhlet extractor on the market, with absolutely no loss in precision or accuracy.
The Soxtec™ 2050 and 2055 utilises a patented four-step extraction technique. It performs boiling, rinsing and solvent recovery. In the fourth step the sample cups are lifted off the hot plate, eliminating the risk for oxidation of the fat, before qualitative analysis using techniques such as GC or GC/MS. The overall laboratory precision is further improved by the purpose-developed batch handling tools delivered with the Soxtec™ System.
