Infratec™ 1241 Sample Transport Module
The sample transport module is developed to expand the application range. It allows the Infratec™ 1241 to analyze very small samples, wet samples and even liquids. It consists of an elevator unit that is installed in the instrument itself, and sample cuvettes that can be filled with the sample to be analyzed. It enables you to measure cooked rice, green malt, plant tissue and beer. Even breeding samples as small as one ear of grain can be measured, without destroying the sample.
In addition to the standard application models for protein, moisture and oil in grain, other ready-to-use application models are available e.g. alcohol and extract in beer and moisture in green malt. For additional applications users can develop their own calibrations using the calibration development software package.
The high transferability of calibrations and the network capability makes the instrument suitable for companies who want to control quality and instrumentation from a central location, to guarantee identical results in all locations.
Here are a few examples of areas of applications:
Beer
Beer analysis can now be combined with quality control of incoming malt thanks to the Infratec 1241's STM. The system is available with ready-to-use application models for alcohol and real extract. From these two parameters the software can calculate several other release parameters directly, including alcohol, real extract, original extract, real degree of fermentation and calories.
In the case of larger breweries, the Infratec and its STM can be set up to provide at-line analysis of beer. Networking allows alignment to international reference standards values and also makes for a quality control system.

Malt
Maltsters have an interest in analyzing both incoming barley, green malt during the malting process and the end-product itself.
With earlier generations of Infratecs, application models were available for barley (protein and moisture) and malt (moisture, protein, soluble nitrogen and extract). However the moisture content of the green malt had to be analyzed by other means. With the new STM, green malt can readily be analyzed using a 25 mm sample cuvette in the same instrument that is used for analyzing the barley and malt.
It is also possible to connect several Infratec 1241s with STMs to create a network for at-line quality control, so that only one reference laboratory is needed to control quality on behalf of several maltsters.
